I think my Ferrari California's transmission is shifting rough and I'm worried

Post by josbuttler »

Okay so I need to be honest – I don't know a huge amount about how cars work mechanically, especially not a car like my Ferrari California 2015. I just know how to drive it and enjoy it, and up until recently that's been enough. But for the past few weeks I've noticed that when the car is shifting gears, especially from first to second when the engine is still cold, it feels kind of jerky or rough, like it's hesitating for a split second before grabbing the next gear. Once the car warms up after about ten or fifteen minutes of driving, the shifting feels normal again, but that initial roughness every morning is starting to worry me. I took it to a general luxury car garage here in Abu Dhabi and the mechanic there said he couldn't find anything wrong because he doesn't have the right diagnostic tools for Ferrari transmissions. He actually admitted that I need someone who specializes in these cars. That's when I started searching for Ferrari repair experts in Abu Dhabi who actually have the proper equipment and knowledge to diagnose dual clutch transmissions on Italian cars. Has anyone else experienced rough shifting on their California or any other Ferrari model? Was it something serious like the clutch wearing out or something simple like needing a transmission fluid change or software update? And roughly how much should I expect to pay just for a proper diagnostic so I know what I'm dealing with? I don't want to walk into a specialist completely clueless and end up paying way more than I should because they see an opportunity. I really love this car and I want to take good care of it but I also don't want to be taken advantage of financially. Any advice from actual Ferrari owners in the UAE would be so helpful right now because I'm genuinely anxious about this and I don't know what my next step should be. Please share your stories, good or bad, so I can learn from your experiences.
